Interview with Gwendolyn Carole Tipton1. Does writing energize or exhaust you?A large portion of my writing falls into the category of spiritual meditation through journaling. Along these lines, writing energizes me since it offers me an opportunity to write out my praises and prayer requests. From these writings come motivation to take hold of my life and do better.2. Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?I am endeavoring to assemble a body of work. My first two books, The Prayor: One who Prays and The Prayor Worships with Isaiah were written to encourage readers to write their prayers during devotional readings. Going forward, I want to support my readers by expanding on the different ways and reasons to write that may affect one’s life. In Journal It! I present 50 ways to journal, from which to choose.3. How many unpublished and half-completed books do you have?I have one unpublished devotional book about the promises in Proverbs, and a novel about taking-care love. I have two outlined books about an odyssey of adoration and thinking about one you cherish. My plan is to get these books published within two years.4. Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?Yes, it is my spiritual practice. My spiritual journaling is a reflection on the past, an examination of the now, and a look toward the future. It is my conversation with God.5. How long were you a part-time writer before you became a full-time one?During my 35 year career in the housing, I wrote newsletters and brochures related to the industry. I believe I am a full-time writer because I am now retired and it’s my new job. My work week exceeds 40 hours, thus making it full time.6. What book has most influenced your life?The Bible has most influenced my life. It has also affected my writing because my genre is spirituality and my focus is self-help. Every Bible verse and prayer that I compose shows me something. My favorite chapters validate how I serve a living, loving and forgiving God.7. What are your future projects?My dream is to venture across the nation and converse with people at gatherings and persuade them that, through journaling, they can transform their lives. Taking hold of your life through journaling speaks to a chance to make or get ready for something new. During my travels, I plan to host a website and blog to support my messages.8. What makes this particular genre you are involved in so special?I am a believer with a message. There are several sections of the Bible that address writing as a facet of prayer and worship and suggest the need to keep petitions in your memory. Worship involves speaking, listening, writing, and doing everything with the heart, mind, and soul.9. Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?I write under my original last name, which could be viewed as a pseudonym. When I Googled my name, Carol Braddock, there were numerous others with a similar name. When I inserted the name on my birth certificate – Gwendolyn Carole Tipton – there was no other, just me.10. How do you think new book ideas such as Kindle, and e-books have changed the present or future of reading?I believe electronic devices have enhanced reading and expanded readership. Audiobooks are breath-taking as you can hear them on your smartphone, in the car, while you’re exercising or even performing multiple tasks. My book Journal It! Encourages the reader to write and that can also be done on the majority of electronic devices. Be that as it may, there’s nothing like sitting in a cozy spot with a good book.
